True Green
Eco-responsibility is important to us here at the SurfZone Company. Realizing that “green” is a process, as well as a product, we strive to make planet healthy decisions every step of the way.
Production
Our hand-made boards are 4 ft. long and waxable, perfect for surfing practice. Just as important, the SurfZone Company practices environmental responsibility by using locally grown and abundant southern yellow pine. For more information, check out the Southern Pine Council at www.southernpine.com.
Our marine-grade ABS and HDPE
(high density poly ethylene) hubs are also made locally and contain in the neighborhood of 40% recycled material. Additionally, all our finishes are made locally and have been certified Low-Tox.
A Word on Wax
Did you know that the three main ingredients in traditional surf wax (paraffin wax, petroleum jelly, and microcrystalline wax) are all by-products or derivates of crude oil? Did you also know that world-wide surfers use upwards of 20 million bars of wax annually?
That’s millions of pounds of toxic substances that we, as a group, are introducing into our beloved oceans and beaches. So do your favorite surf zone a favor and check out organic and bio-friendly surf waxes. Here at the SurfZone Company, we’re testing our own recipes of beeswax and soy --try out a complimentary bar with each purchase and let us know what you think.
