In the Zone

The SurfZone Balance Trainer is designed solely for the purpose of land-based surf training. It is recommended for use on hard flat surfaces such as asphalt or concrete, though if you’re new to board sports, you might want to try your SurfZone  first in beach sand or grass until you get the feel of things. Be sure to wax the deck and use bare feet…

The surfer’s open stance is the first basic balance maneuver. Step onto your board from the back, one foot behind and the other in front of the SurfZone decal, about shoulders’ width apart. Center your body weight over the black stringer marking and when you’re ready, step up into the zone.

Adjust your feet as necessary and keep your center of gravity low, this means lowering your sitting bones straight down--not leaning over from the waist.

The unique feature of the SurfZone Balance Trainer is the patented balance hub which allows for quick and unrestricted pivotal movement. This makes the SurfZone ideal for working the balance reactions of the rider through both the pitch and yaw axis as well as pivotal movement.

To begin, first get into a balanced position on the board, then slowly pivot from the hips. Use your back foot to steer the nose of the board and your arms for counterbalance.
